Commitments

Within the currents of species and habitat loss

I’m committed to expanding my listening so I can hear and understand your voices and language. I’m committed to listening to your songs and allowing them to resonate inside me. I'm committed to sharing that resonance with others. I’m committed to learning from your unique intelligence. I'm committed to recognizing vulnerability and connection as true intelligence, and that which makes this world. I'm committed to living harmoniously on Earth, as you do. I’m committed to showing others that we have a lot to learn from you. I'm committed to being humble. I’m committed to acceptance as a deeply spiritual and active process that compels motion and change. I’m committed to questions and curiosity. I’m committed to acknowledging that my life and the lives of my ancestors, past, present and future, are dependent on yours. Not just for physical survival, but most of all for song, story, communication—that sustaining continuum of connection that nourishes and gives life meaning. Interbeing. I’m committed to protecting your territories. I’m committed to honouring the stories you share with me. I’m committed to being with you, in your joy and grief. I’m committed to not looking away, but listening closely and alongside. I’m committed to listening for what we share, what resounds. I’m committed to holding difference. I’m committed to how we are, rather than just who we are. I’m committed to radical reciprocity as a migratory space that transcends boundaries. I’m committed to learning and growing into the calling of what I can do to be of service, so there’s no more lost intelligence, no more lost communication, no more lost sounds of this earth. I’m committed to you as family. Kin. I’m committed to working with others to restore our connection to the body of Earth, and the web of our entangled bodies. I am committed to love.
